West Wirral Snakehips 17 v 25 Balham Choke Hazard
- Updated: October 5, 2015
West Wirral Snakehips vs Balham Choke Hazard
Snakehips – Marland, Waring & Somerville
ChokeHazard – Saunders, Hunt & Buckley
A real battle of the Titans in the opener, as undefeated West Wirral Snakehips took on the offensively tall Balham Choke Hazard. Stalwart defender Utley was missing from the Snakehips side so Matt Somerville who had previously appeared for the Supermoons donned the yellow shirt. The Balham Choke Hazards, wore their navy away shirt, everyone was amazed and intimidated that they could afford two kits.
1st Quarter
Smoked billowed from the allotments in adjacent next field as a hush descended onto the arena (shitty school field). Both teams spent the first quarter trying to find their shooting gloves. Snakehips new recruit Somerville hitting two and helping his side to a 3-2 lead.
2nd Quarter
More of the same in the second before the dangerous looking 6’5’ James Hunt nailed a Volfsball to put his team up 8-5. Unperturbed the Snakehips replied within seconds, Marland replying with a Volfsball from distance to regain the lead 10-5. Everyone on the sidelines simultaneously shat themselves with excitement.
3rd Quarter
Hunt continued to hit one pointers for Choke Hazard accompanied by sterling defensive work from Saunders, but Wareing hit another Volfsball for the Snakehips and they finished the quarter up 17-13.
4th Quarter
Choke Hazard started to make their height advantage count, hitting one pointers and clawing their way back into the game. An astonishing display of clinical shooting from Saunders, Hunt and Buckley saw them outscore the tiring Snakehips 12-0 with a barrage of one pointers. Emerging victorious with a record breaking score 25-17.
