Game 14 – Snakehips vs Supermoons
- Updated: August 16, 2015
Supermoons – Woodings, McNeill, Sussman (Subs.Larwood, Louw)
Snakehips – Marland, Utley Wareing (Subs McElwain)
A different starting line up from both teams, but an error strewn first quart saw misses galore from the field. An infringement in the no go zone in the last second saw McNeill hit the free shot, giving the Moons a 2-1 lead.
Early in the second quarter the Moons were passing around nicely with McNeill, Larwood and Louw back in the line up, then the Snakehips took charge. Rob Marland netting his second Volfsball of the day and Wade McElwain following up from the other side. The Moons were shellshocked and down 12-5 at the half. More bad news followed when McNeill revealed he had to go home to watch the Man City/Chelsea game even though he doesn’t support either team. It remained to be seen if they could come back from this crushing blow.
Louw, Sussman and Woodings played the third against the classic Marland, Utley and Wareing line up of the Snakehips. Faced by a titanic deficit the Moons tried some ambitious three point kicks from Sussman. A couple of points from Louw saw them claw back to 14-8 but the Snakehips looked confident going into the last quarter.
Snakeships defence held firm and the Moons never looked like hitting any big scores. It finished a resounding 16-10 victory thanks to an incredible second quarter of Volfsball. The shortest player on the Snakehips team Wareing led blocks for both games, but the accurate Volfsball shooting of Marland secured another Snakehips double victory leaving them undefeated in the league.
