Camden Kongs 13 v 14 Choke Hazards
- Updated: September 20, 2015
September 20th
Another day of Volfsball morenew teams as Ultimate Frisbee team Balham Choke Hazard and Tom Bell’s bad boys the Harringay Choppers tried their hand at the greatest sport of the 21st Century. First up Thom Saunders led his Choke Hazard team against David Reed’s Camden Kongs.
Kongs – D. Reed, J. Reed, Whelan
Choke Hazard – T. Saunders, M. Saunders, Nixon (sub Buckley)
First Quarter
The first quarter saw both teams finding their feet, the ever dangerous John Reed hitting for the Kongs, but Choke Hazard replied. 2-2 with the half about to finish but Gemma Whelan hit a one pointer with seconds remaining to give the Kongs a 3-2 edge.
Second Quarter
Buckley came on for Nixon, the Kongs without a sub kept their starting three. A low scoring affair, shots went awry from both sides, only Buckley and John Reed managing to score, the first half ending 4-3.
Third Quarter
If the third quarter was quiet the third was scores galore. Whelan hitting a Volfsball early doors and John Reed adding to the tally to put the Kongs up what looked to be an unassailable 11-3. But Russ Buckley banked a Volfsball and the quarter ended 13-8.
Four Quarter
After an early score, Greg Nixon hit the Choke Hazard’s second Volfsball of the day and put them level at 13-13 turning round an 8 point deficit. The normally accurate John Reed was missing his usual shots from the field as the Kongs tired late in the game. Another score from Nixon gave the debutants a 14-13 which they held onto to emerge victorious.
Final Score 14-13
