Hunt’s Blocks All in Opener

The sporting world held their breath as the day all sports fans had been waiting for finally arrived. Opening day of the 2016 Volfsball season. The overcast skies looked set to burst but they kindly held most of their load as six games took place. The teams in attendance were last years All Comer’s League Champions the Muswell Hill Supermoons, and they were joined by the Balham Choke Hazard, Crouch End Tigers and West Wirral Snakehips. With the new three thirds shortened games proving a success, the teams were all able to play each other.

Snakehips 10 v 11 Choke Hazard

Player of the day was James Hunt whose defensive prowess was instrumental in leading the Choke Hazard to three opening day victories. Scoring from the sidelines was again an issue as the Snakehips were robbed of a point that could have earned them a draw. Larwood’s two volfsballs against the giant like Tiger team secured them an unlikely victory, giving them two victories in close fought contests. All in all a great day for the sport.
